About the role
The Field Authorised Person works as part of a 3 person shift team operating the high voltage plant and equipment installed across the Devonport site for the Estates HV Operations team. The HV operations team are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the 3 large private distribution networks installed at Devonport 24/7, these include both 50 and 60Hz systems in support of business across the site and the provision of electrical supplies to both surface ships and nuclear submarines. The three distribution networks consist of HV distribution plant and equipment including many different types of primary switchboards, transformers, diesel generators and pumps, there are also more specialist HV plant and equipment installed including frequency convertors for changing from 50 to 60Hz and the SCADA systems installed to control and monitor these distribution networks. There is also a central control room from where these distribution networks are managed.
The Field Authorised Person is responsible for the on-site operation of the plant and equipment primarily in support of maintenance activities, which will include planning switching activities, making the plant to be maintained safe and issuing safety documentation to the staff performing these maintenance activities. The role also includes supporting and performing commissioning activities, fault finding and cable identification/cutting across the HV networks.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to have a ONC or equivalent in Electrical Discipline and have experience in Electrical Design, Plant Operating or Maintenance

  • This is a 3 person shift pattern which rotates over a 3 week period including one week of dayshift, one week of evening shift, a weekend of dayshift and the third week being split between rest days and relief days.
