About the role

Babcock operates a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of Naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock Instructors as well as training support (e.g. training planning, equipment support, routine maintenance and training design). The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working. This role will provide the support and drive to achieve successful delivery of all aspects of the contract in this new phase.

Reporting to the Media Team Leader, the LMS Developer is responsible for administering Moodle instances (generally on the DLE) and the placement of approved e-learning content into the appropriate courses. Increased utilisation of Moodle and other Learning Management Systems will be fundamental to the embedding of greater innovation within the contract so this role will need to engage in the development of systems in support of agreed change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the effective and efficient delivery of the Moodle based Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other Learning Management System (LMS) solutions within the contract.
  • Assist, configure and maintain the LMS to include compliant media categories, user configuration files, site configuration files and administration definitions.
  • Conduct theme development and configure LMS sites in accordance with customer.
  • Ensure compliance, where applicable, with customer regulations and procedures including a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Develop media content that will be deliverable from multiple platforms and via numerous applications inc the DLE.

What do I need to do the role?

  • Consolidated experience of Systematic Approach to Training
  • Experience of working within the guidelines of JSP822
  • DCTS Training Design
  • Experience in developing technology based design solutions (e-learning, multimedia)
  • Consolidated experience of Moodle LMS
  • ECDL or equivalent demonstrable proficiency in using IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
