The role
The Aviation Regulatory Change Lead is responsible for co-ordinating; assessing and driving the implementation of changes required within the company's engineering and technical activity in support of the approvals and contracts that the business hold, as a result of changes to external aviation legislation, regulation or standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Identification of plans and actions to maintain compliance with changes in relevant legislation, regulation, management standards (ISO) and wider QinetiQ process;
Proactive identification and communication to suitable levels of any risk associated with the company's ability to be safe and comply with changes, and with proposed changes, to relevant legislation, regulation, standards and wider company process;
Supporting area managers in delivering the required changes to maintain regulatory compliance, providing training and coaching to staff when required;
Maintaining assigned regulatory expositions and manuals, working with named roles to ensure these keep pace with relevant legislation, regulation, standards and wider business process, as well as organisational changes;
Preparing and aligning appropriate letters of appointment and delegation to support the company's regulatory approvals;
Understanding of the compliance state of the business in relevant assigned areas, and production of associated information for management reviews (particularly to support accountable individuals) and to support management action;
Identification and sharing of areas of good practice and process across the business;
Acting as the voice of quality and conscience of the organisation in engaging with stakeholders across the business;
Preparation for and co-ordination of change management inputs to external audits as required.
Key Capabilities/Knowledge:
Understanding of aviation regulatory approvals and their implementation in a civil and military environment;
Able to drive change in a complex and diverse domain, ensuring that legislative, regulatory and standards compliance is appropriately prioritised alongside business delivery;
Demonstrable ability to balance robustness and collaborative support, to ensure appropriate ownership of approvals whilst supporting the update of the documents;
Possess a keen eye for detail and ability to proactively identify and size risks before they become issues to the business.
Experience & Qualifications:
Effective and influential communicator at multiple levels, able to engage with detail or summarise as required by the recipient;
Calm and considered approach to problem solving;
Results focussed and committed to excellent delivery.
