<p align="justify">West Midlands Police are seeking a competent individual to join our Network Services Team.

Part of the innovative IT &amp; Digital Department based at Lloyd House in Birmingham the team are responsible for providing highly available secure data, voice and radio networks.<br />

The post is permanent full time (37Hrs/week) appointments with a salary of £28,353 to £39,705pa.

Candidates may wish to indicate if they are willing to be considered for an additional fixed two year contract which may become available later this year.

The team work flexible hours around a core of 10am-4pm Mon-Fri however, subject to the needs of the organisation, variations may be available to meet medical or family needs.&nbsp;<br />

The team support critical services which must be available 24/7 so the successful applicants will join on call rota and in addition to the basic salary, will be paid an allowance for any overnight / weekend / Bank Holiday sessions when they are on call as well as overtime payments for any additional hours they are required to work.<br />

Following the New Ways of Working Modernisation Programme, WMP are embarking upon an Estates Programme within the WMP2020 change programme, focused on delivering a modern and flexible force-wide estate, supporting the delivery of the operational policing model defined by WMP2020<br /> &nbsp;

This vacancy has arisen from the expansion of the team to deliver that re-organisation of our police buildings which will require extensive refurbishment of existing sites and creation of some new premises involving the replacement of the existing LAN, widespread rebuild of the WAN and extensive installation of new WiFi provision.

The team will continue supporting existing services, and contribute to the implementation of new capabilities as part of 2020 and other projects.<br /> &nbsp;

Among other responsibilities the successful candidates will:</p> <ul> <li>Manage and support a variety of Network Services Technology</li> <li>Directly communicate with Senior Managers from a customer service perspective</li> <li>

Maintain standards for security and availability of information</li> <li>

Be able to work under pressure balancing competing priorities</li> </ul> <p>

The ideal candidate for these roles will&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>

have a degree or HNC level qualification or demonstrable specialist skills in an IT environment</li> <li>

understand ITIL and Change Management</li> <li>

understand project management techniques, understanding that their tasks will impact on other parts of complex and overlapping projects</li> <li>

have good interpersonal and presentation skills</li> <li>

have good communication skills in order to work effectively throughout the organisation and with external contractors</li> <li>

be able to produce management reports, policy documents and comprehensive working papers and implement them</li> <li>

be able to negotiate and influence at a senior level</li> <li>and be part of a team who enjoy coming to work and are proud of the service they deliver.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>

Experience</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>

Support a variety of Network Technology</li> <li>

Demonstrable ability to communicate directly with customers at a variety of levels</li> <li>

Maintain standards of security</li> <li>

Promote equality, diversity and Human Rights working practices</li> <li>

Plan and organise work with short and long term timeframes</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp; <b><u>

Knowledge</u></b>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>

Knowledge of Network technology e.g. routing, switching, firewalls and load balancers</li> <li>

Understanding of ITIL including change management and problem investigation processes</li> <li>

Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to post.

Training in building site safety will be provided (CSCS)</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>

Skills</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>

IT related qualification preferably at Degree or HNC Level (attach if applicable) or demonstrable specialist skills in an IT environment.</li> <li>

ITIL qualification if available (attach if applicable)</li> <li>

CCNA Qualification if available (attach if applicable)</li> <li>

A basic understanding of Project Management techniques</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<b>
