We are looking for a Network Engineer to help support the MOD’s global data networks.

The Role
You will be part of a small team, provisioning orders and providing 3rd line support to the 2nd Line IP Service and Design teams, and will be based in Corsham. This team and the wider teams you will work with, are responsible for the end to end delivery of customer DFTS service on secure and non-secure services contracts.
 
The role will predominately be project work with an element of support as well.

What you'll be doing  
 

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line support to bespoke voice, data and IT based communications services to the DCOS/IUS networks. Provisioning of services, enquiries, fault diagnosis / resolution, problem management and order / change implementation.
  • You will meet or exceed bespoke/customer-specific SLAs, contractual commitments and internal performance measurements.
  • You will provide coordinated local training and written aid memoirs to 1st/2nd line team members to increase the skill level of the overall team, especially with the RICE tool.
  • You will accurately log, update and close events in a quality and timely manner as per the documented processes and take the required corrective action where quality issues are identified.
  • You will maintain and enhance working relationships with customers, suppliers to effect prompt fault repair, change / order implementation
  • You will become competent and compliant with the RICE tool to ensure configurations and installations, and must be able to generate a patch file for ad-hoc and bespoke install requirements.
  • You will provide on-call support and OOH support as required.
  • You will work proactively and deal with complex current and potential issues on customer networks.

Essential Skills
 

  • Exposure with Juniper routers operations and configuration.
  • Technical skill should be ideally be JNCIS level, or equivalent. However, candidates with JNCIA will be considered.
  • A good understanding of IP data networks, including WAN protocols and technologies.
  • Exposure with cryptographic network devices.
  • An understanding of voice (TDM and VOIP) protocols and technologies
