Here at Cavendish Nuclear we're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join us at Westlakes Science & Technology Park, from here we serve customers to deliver a range of projects across the lifecycle of nuclear energy. You'll be part of a team producing mechanical design deliverables such as Mechanical Handling Equipment, Special Purpose Machinery and Lifting Equipment.

As one of our Senior Mechanical Engineers you'll provide design solutions and take responsibility for the delivery of multi-discipline work packages to programme, budget, quality and environmental health and safety standards. Working with several teams of designers and engineers you'll coordinate the production of Design Schemes, Design Proposal Drawings, Detail Drawings, Functional Specifications, Technical Reports, Justification Reports and undertake the checking of mechanical deliverables.

What do I need to do the job?

As a minimum you'll need to hold an HNC or an equivalent qualification and have significant experience of producing mechanical design deliverables within the nuclear industry. As part of this you'll have a good knowledge and hands on experience of fabrication techniques, geometric tolerancing, weld symbols, limits and fits and surface finish.

As well having knowledge and experience in applying relevant EH&S legislation and directives, you'll need to have taken part in designers risk assessments, design reviews and (ideally) in HAZOP studies. Lastly you'll need a working knowledge of Inventor and AutoCad too.
