Principal Software Engineer - DevOps Contract
Your experience of overseeing a DevOps capability and managing a DevOps team would make you an ideal candidate for this role. You will be responsible for managing the DevOps strategy processes and standards supporting build and deployment through source code control, continuous integration and software quality tools and methods.

Responsibilities
*Leading a cross functional scrum DevOps team through a software delivery project in a scaled Agile environment
*Defining and Managing the continuous integration, deployment and test approach
*Guiding the development teams on how to use DevOps practices and values
*Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution between the test and development organizations to resolve build and deployment issues
*Delivering and managing Infrastructure to support Continuous Integration, build and test automation activity as well as the continuous improvement of source control, integration and testing processes, procedures and tools
*Planning of the DevOps initiatives and activities with the team
*Helping with Definition of test requirements, specifications, procedures and scripts with reference to system and product specification, design and use cases
*Supporting status reporting of product build and test activities
*Supporting Build Release and Software licensing Requirements across the Product Development and Test Team

Education/Experience
*Experienced at working in a Scrum environment
*Competent in Software Development, Integration and Test - depth of experience in some areas and breadth of understanding across the discipline,
*Experienced in the following engineering tools or equivalents: JENKINS, Artifactory, Rational Quality Manager, Rational Team Concert, GIT, Infrastructure as code automated deployment, scripting tools
*Ability to generate well-structured technical documents and manage through a review process to achieve release to committed deadlines.
*Ability to present at progress and system reviews and contribute productively in the team and with external UK MoD and other stakeholders
*Needs to be confident and professional when working with development and test teams
*Experience in managing and training others in the agile scrum process
*Understanding of software architectures, and design patterns
*Defect investigation and root cause analysis
*Knowledge and understanding of testing of software installations on Windows environments
*Previous experience in understanding areas of concern with respect to software installation and configuration
*Web Technologies (e.g. OData, HTTP, TLS, and REST)
*Testing and deployment of software on Windows 10 and Server 2016
*Test Management tools (e.g. Rational Quality Manager)
*Working in virtualized environments
