Salary - £22,440 for new officers/ we will consider previous service history when calculating annual leave and salary if you are part of any other force

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is a specialist armed police service dedicated to protecting the civil nuclear industry. We work with local forces, nuclear regulators and central government, and counter terrorism is also a major part of our role. Because our work is of national importance, we provide all of our officers with the training to excel. In fact, every police officer at CNC, including our Police Constables, gets the training to become an exceptional Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO).

When you join, you'll start with an initial foundation course which includes our world-class firearms training. This unique programme will see you combine your observation and communication skill with your resilience. That way, you'll become a highly trained and effective police officer before you're first deployed. Our exceptional team of specialists will also assist you throughout your time with us to ensure you maintain the required fitness levels and standards required to be a CNC AFO.

Whether by foot, vehicle or on static duty, you'll spend a majority of your time performing your AFO responsibilities in line with our patrolling strategy. It's about observing and monitoring all areas designated by the local briefing. However, while not every shift will be exceptional, you will be. So it's vital you can take ownership and work with your team to provide a professional and effective response when called upon. After successfully completing a two-year probation, you'll be eligible to apply for any opportunities within our specialist roles, such as firearms instructor, dog handler or special branch. It's a great chance to further stretch and develop your career, and achieve excellence.

Of course, not just anyone can become a Police Constable at CNC. To apply, you'll need to be 18 or over, not hold a serious criminal record (minor offences won't necessarily exclude you from joining us), and be able to pass and maintain our medical and fitness standards. For a full list of our application requirements, visit our website. We also have some remote locations at CNC, and it's vital that you live close by to your allocated site. If you don't already, please note that you'll need to relocate at your own cost.

Become a Police Constable, and start an exceptional career at CNC.

We are also looking for experienced police officers to join our team If you are part of any other force, please contact the recruitment team on 0330 3135 401 or email jobs@cnc.police.uk before applying.
