Our client is seeking a talented Test Automation Engineer to join their rapidly growing team in London. The successful candidate will be well versed in defining and applying a range of testing techniques to a variety of systems in a range of contexts. They will have worked on business critical systems and are comfortable working under their own motivation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business and technical requirements to comprehensive testable scenarios
  • Evaluate existing manual Test Cases and identify opportunities for Automation
  • Develop Test Plans and procedures for both black and white box testing of all components at the Unit, Module, System and Integration levels, performing risk analysis when required
  • Define and execute test activities either independently or under direction of more senior test professionals
  • Drive Test Automation efforts for all services including identification, design, implementation and support of 'fit for purpose' Automation capabilities for mission critical solutions under test
  • Identify gaps and opportunity to improve Test Automation capability to ensure coverage efficiency
  • Champion transition to Automated Integration & Testing solutions to reduce software time-to-market
  • Analyse current automation solutions, understand changing business needs, and propose strategies for the enhancement and/or migration to new Automation framework
  • Able to run investigations into root-cause analysis of failures, hardware or software, using the appropriate tools and recommend solutions to the relevant teams for resolution
  • Must be comfortable working in multiple environments within a collaborative team (Software/System Engineers, Project Manager and customers)

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in SDLC using various testing methodologies and best practices
  • Track record for delivering Automated Integration & Test solutions
  • Hands on experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash
  • Experience with Continuous Integration Technologies such as Jenkins, Bamboo
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Git, Stash, Puppet, Chef
  • Development and planning of test and integration environments
  • High degree of initiative and flexibility, with a desire to learn technologies quickly
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, analytical, planning and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with others in a small team under pressure
  • ISTQB/BCS Certified Tester - Foundation Level

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in Automation Testing frameworks such as Selenium, Watir, jMeter, etc
  • Experience in creating and reviewing comprehensive Test documentation
  • Experience with Defect Tracking tools such as Jira, Rally, RTC
  • Experience in virtualisation technologies
  • Experience in both Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience of deploying and configuring complex software under Linux.
  • Understanding of Cloud Technologies such as Hadoop/Accumulo/Spark
  • Experience in Performance Testing
  • Knowledge of Agile Development, Test-Driven Development and DevOps techniques
  • Understanding of the importance of software version control
  • Self-motivated and able to coach/mentor/inspire others in Automation best practice
  • An inquisitive mind and a desire to promote innovation
  • Certified Agile Tester
  • Experience of UK Government working practices
