The post holder will be required to:
*Ensure specialist or complex IT information is processed in accordance with Trust and external policies and procedures.
*Investigate IT issues (incidents) raised to the Help Desk by end users in the area of the post holder's speciality (Systems/Telecoms/Technology Support Team), visiting them where appropriate.
*Desktop (Technology Support Team):
oDetermine the cause of software or hardware problems, arrive at a solution and implement appropriate actions to remedy, escalating any unresolved issues to the IT Specialist Engineer.
oManage the deployment of new hardware and software to end users including taking responsibility for SMAC (Small Moves and Changes)
oEnsure that end user devices are up to date with the latest Anti-Virus, and anti-malware software in accordance with IT policies and IG standards.
*Systems:
oInstall all systems software, upgrades or new releases, all utility software, and all temporary program fixes.
oMaintain the production environment for critical applications - working to reduce the risk of disruption to the production environment.
oHelp write, debug, test and document any specialised programs required to interface with systems software or between hardware units.
oEnsure performance considerations are designed into system configurations and maintain a formal methodology for reporting performance.
oEnsure that all servers are up to date with the latest Anti-Virus, and anti-malware software in accordance with IT policies and IG standards.
*Telecoms:
oInstall all firmware, software and configuration changes to networking devices including routers and switches.
oEnsure that all network devices and the Trust firewall are secure against threats, including the installation, configuration and maintenance of threat protection utilities.
oMonitor and configure the Trust's Local and Wide Area Networks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
o
*Maintain and use all appropriate technical manuals and documentation and follow Change Control procedures.
*Oversee the work of any IT Technician supporting them in the above activities.
*Ensure that 3rd party suppliers are called in to help with the resolution of any incidents where required.
*Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures in the area of focus for this role (Systems, Telecoms, Technology Support Team).
