About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a PMO Controller.
Babcock operates a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of Naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock instructors as well as training support (e.g. training planning, equipment support, routine maintenance and training design). The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the structure and drive to achieve successful delivery of identified aspects of the contract in this new phase. Reporting to the Governance Manager, the PMO Lead will manage the PMO function that will aid the execution of a central PMO service within the Organisation.
You will support the PMO team in ensuring effective and efficient delivery of the FOAP (Training) programme of activity. Provide a support function that will aid the execution of a central PMO service within the Organisation, Coordinate and maintain the respective programme of activity. Undertake activities in support of the FOAP(Training) PMO: meeting preparation, production of reports and coordination of data. Support the development of Business Cases for identified projects. Support the writing and Implementation of standard working practices, desk instructions and process diagrams where required. Support the project managers with collating relevant information for their projects. Organise stakeholder meetings. Support the project management with project closure, capturing lessons learnt. Continuinly improve the way we contribute to the business. Carry out any other appropriate task that may be required from time to time
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need consolidated experience of using MS SharePoint (or equivalent document management system) andonsolidated experience of using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to manipulate data accordingly and to present statistical information regulations consistent with your responsibilities
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
  • Demonstrable experience of creating action plans and reporting and experience of delivering effective leadership and management controls.
  • Significant stakeholder management experience and demonstrable experience of decision making and providing support to teams.
  • Experience of implementation action plans to drive the project successfully.
  • Experience of managing the final closure of projects and a broad understanding of Project Management methodologies and tools.
  • Recognised project management qualification, or willingness to work toward successful achievement
What else do I need to know?
  • Location: The main place of work will be HMS Collingwood with responsibilities for other sites. The role requires a high degree of flexibility; with a requirement for regular travel between sites within the UK.
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain) SC level security clearance
