About the role:

The successful candidate will take up a role reporting to the Enterprise Architect, and the role is viewed as having a combined team leadership and technical design focus which encompasses the following required capabilities.

  • Leading and motivating a team of technical architects (2 direct reports)
  • Technical architectural design, adaptable to all IT disciplines
  • Structured work ethic, familiar with working within projects to demanding timescales
  • Strong communicator with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work within an accredited ISO27001 environment

    The role has the following internal stakeholders, with whom the successful candidate will need to develop strong, effective working relationships;
  • Senior Leadership Team
  • Enterprise Architecture Team
  • Project Management Office
  • IT Delivery Teams
  • Information Assurance Team
  • Security Operations Centre
  • Suppliers and Accrediting bodies

    You
    You will have a technical career background, with a focus on deploying secure and cost-effective IT solutions and will be able to lead a team of Technical Architects. You are regarded as a subject matter expert in desktop and mobile technologies.

    You have:
  • Experience of working within an ITIL, PRINCE and, ideally, ISO270001 environments
  • Windows 10 Enterprise deployment skills, including MDT and SCCM
  • Knowledge of MDM Technologies including Microsoft Intune, BlackBerry UEM applicable to Apple iOS & Android
  • Knowledge of VPN technologies such as Cisco AnyConnect
  • Experience of working within a regulated industry - Security / Defence or similar
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Endpoint security, encryption, hardening and protection
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as VBScript and PowerShell

    The Team: Enterprise Architecture

    The End User Computing (EUC) function is placed within the Enterprise Architecture team, which maintains the strategic architecture for components which are used across Babcock Group - desktop and mobile tech.

    The principle responsibility of the Senior End User Computing (EUC) Architect is to provide expertise and leadership in the design, configuration and management of all corporate EUC devices and associated supporting management services, whilst leading a team of technical architects that deliver desktop and mobile solutions.

    This will involve identifying and architecting build solutions, leading on the implementation of new technologies and the continuous improvement for all aspects of EUC within Babcock International Group, including R&D.

    The Enterprise Architecture team reports into the Group CTO (Chief Technology Officer), within Information Services and provides services internationally to all of the operational sectors within Babcock International Group.

    Key Activities:
  • Establishing an End User Compute architecture that aligns with the overall business strategy and Enterprise Architecture roadmaps
  • R&D
  • Taking ownership for, and providing specialist design support relating to your technology portfolio
  • Participating in solution architecture design; leading any required efforts to assist with the integration and initial implementation of solutions, including testing and assurance
  • Become a trusted advisory to the EA & CTO on End User Compute design matters
  • Being an SME point of escalation
