A defense leading organisation focused on providing technological and scientific expertise are in search of an ambitious Big Data Solution Engineer to join their proactive team of experts. They operate primarily in the defence, security and aerospace markets and our customers are predominantly government organisations.
Specialising in maintaining and developing a leading-edge Data Analytics capability to support projects across the whole company, this role involves customer site visits and interaction, also requiring the ability to technically lead bids and projects, communicate openly, think creatively, collaborate, and influence a range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities will also include:
- Technical Leadership of bids and projects
- Technical Sales - supporting the Business Development team to discuss possible solutions with customers
- Leadership within business (an Integrated Delivery Team (IDT)) that needs an enduring Big Data capability
- Governance, review of customer deliverables
I am looking for an adaptable, self-efficient individual to fit into this growing and energetic team. An individual with a good track record of technical leadership of Data Analytics projects, someone who flexible, motivated and has proven experience with customer delivery. Experience working across the full product development lifecycle and understanding design and implementation processes is also widely respected.
Ideal candidate should have experience is some of the following tools:
- ElasticSearch, Hadoop, Spark, Solr, Salt/Puppet/Ansible, Zookeeper, Accumulo, Kafka, MongoDB, Neo4J. Also Cassandra, Apache Storm, IBM Infosphere Streams, Oracle 11/12, ZeroMQ, OrientDB.
- Languages include: Java/Scala, Python, Bash
- Operating systems include: Linux (various flavours)
- Experience of AWS and/or Azure
They should also hold hands on experience in some of the following:
- University Honours Degree Qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Exposure to Cloud technologies.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in many aspects of the engineering of Big Data systems, including a good number of the Open-source and branded tools and languages listed below.
- Enthusiastic and willing to work flexibly to be part of a high-performing team.
- Proven experience of working in a consultancy role, focused on customer needs and requirements or equivalent engineering role with customer/stakeholder exposure and influence.
- Experience in leading Agile or scaled Agile teams, or a member of this type of team.
- Familiarity with a DevOps environment
Due to the nature of the work, Security Clearance is required: Must be UK national - Security Cleared (SC) and eligible for (Developed Vetting) DV clearance.
