- This is an exciting role encompassing all engineering disciplines with exposure to various electronic systems, products and technologies. The Product Design Engineer will provide through-life expertise & support for aviation electronic products and components. You will act as the product focal for improvements, obsolescence resolution & design changes. responsible for the resolution of engineering process and test issues whilst maximizing production yield to satisfy the needs of our customers.
- In this role you will be responsible for maintaining design configuration, verifying and qualifying obsolescence parts. Working across the matrix you will support cost out initiatives, lead product return investigations and maintain product performance and yield using failure reporting and corrective action system, to constantly monitor and drive up performance of in service and production systems. Key Activities:
- Lead investigations into technical issues resulting from production and field failures
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action through the use of established problem solving tools (e.g. 8D, Apollo, Fault Tree Analysis)
- Technical support to the sourcing department for all component and supplier queries
- Technical support to the Quality department for all in service questions and returns ensuring full RCCA has been captured and implemented
- Identify and lead process improvement and material cost reduction initiatives
- Change authority for products within the team portfolios, including changes to technical documentation, drawings, bills of materials, etc
- Experience of working in a similar role, environment, not limited to aerospace
- Experience of working in a design support role
- Strong design document & configuration knowledge

- Qualification to Degree level or above in an electronic/electrical discipline, or equivalent experience
