About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Marine Engineering Instructor to be bases at HMS Sultan in Gosport. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an organisation recognised for their outstanding training performance and a desire to instruct, guide and deliver subject matter expertise.

As a maritime trainer of choice Babcock has been delivering world-class support for two decades to the Royal Navy and commercial customers both in the UK and Internationally. This role offers an opportunity to work on cutting edge technology within the military environment and train the next generation through their service career. You will instruct Officers and Ratings of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) on Single Role Mine Hunter (SRMH) ship's equipment and systems as the Lead Instructor on diesels and mechanical systems.

Your main tasks will include:
  • Develop a good understanding of the whole ship environment of the SRMH with particular emphasis on safe methods of operating all marine engineering systems and equipment.
  • Update ISPECs and lesson plans on ME related SRMH equipment's when required.
  • Design, develop and prepare ME trade training modules for RNSF Students including Mechanical and Electrical Principles and Stability.
  • Prepare and conduct RSNF new joiner's briefs for each batch of ME new student arrivals into HMS Sultan.
  • Support ME RSNF students with their English Language Teaching (ELT) enrichment training programme and provide mentoring support to the students as required.

What do I need to do the job?

You will need:
  • Naval experience - ideally complex warships.
  • MS Office literate to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experienced in instructional techniques.
  • Technical appreciation of naval training and the naval training environment.
  • Working knowledge of foreign customers and cultures.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

What else do I need to know?

This role will be based at HMS Sultan in Gosport but will include additional travel to support students on UK and foreign manufacturer's courses in support of training as and when required.
