THE OPPORTUNITY

We are actively seeking 3 highly personable and technically astute Principal Technicians. The ideal people for this role will have experience supporting field maintenance, station logs, on-the-job training, and other duties required within NATO, the MoD, civil service, the wider armed forces or a defence organisation. As our Principal Technician, you will be responsible for various tasks related to power equipment. This work is located in Kester, Belgium and will suit those either already living there or willing and able to work within that location unencumbered. Sound like a great fit?

 

THE ROLE Your daily role responsibilities will be as follows:

You will operates and perform unit and field level maintenance, and emergency interventions on associated power facilities of the SGS:

  • Maintains station logs and ensures proper outage reporting;- Provides feedback to Station Commander, Station Engineers and Chief Technician for internal training program improvements, and for ensuring maintenance personnel comply with prescribed maintenance procedures
  • Participates on On-the-Job-Training (OJT) programs to complement the official NCISS training program
  • Assists and advises the H&S Advisor on power related issues within the SGS H&S plan
  • Performs all duties requested by Station Command and related to daily functioning and position of the Site within NCIA, NATO, and the local community
  • Deputize for higher grade staff, if required
  • Performs other duties as may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Vocational training at a higher level in a relevant discipline or, a combination of equivalent qualifications and experience and relevant experience
  • Experience in the operation or maintenance of Power Equipment
  • AC Power distribution equipment
  • Experience with, Emergency AC Diesel Power generation and associated fuel storage, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), HVAC systems, and water distribution and filtering systems;
  • Proven skill with communicating effectively orally, using tact and subtlety, with good briefing skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret Security Clearance

NON-ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • On-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital networks and associated transmission systems, to include; packet switching systems in support of voice & data transfer
  • Basic knowledge of French and Dutch is desired as role involves working with local subcontractors
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT.
