About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an experienced CDM Advisor to undertake the role of Principal Designer and to lead and supervise a team of Clerk of Works and H&S Advisors to ensure all construction work is carried out in line with the CDM and HSE Regulations.

Key responsibilities will include;
  • Supporting the thorough investigation of accidents and incidents to ensure suitable and sufficient steps are taken to ensure there is no reoccurrence
  • Providing H&S guidance to the projects team
  • Producing, maintaining and developing the department suite of H&S documentation in order to ensure it is comprehensive and continually up to date with current legislation
  • Supporting the delivery of contractor workshops to ensure that the required H&S standards are met or exceeded by supply chain partners

What do I need to do the role?

You will have had formal training in Occupational Health and Safety such as NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ 4 and hold CMIOSH or working towards Chartered status.

You will also have prior experience in managing a Construction Health & safety team, working in Construction H&S with a good knowledge of general engineering principals.

You will be able to write technical reports which provide analysis, interpretation and root cause of events as well as providing recommendations and havr a thorough understanding of all legal and statutory frameworks especially CDM Regulations and the Health & Safety at Work Act.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
