Location

The NCA is a national organisation, with teams based in major hubs situated in central London, Warrington, Birmingham and Bristol, with smaller sites in Scotland, Belfast, Normanton, Sunderland, East Midlands, Slough, Solent, Crawley, Tolworth, Stevenage, Kent, Dover, Felixstowe, Heathrow, Gatwick, Bridgend and Exeter. 
The successful candidate would ideally be based in London, although applicants from other locations will may be considered if they are prepared to travel.

To contribute to the service delivery of the Agency’s Anti-Kidnap and Extortion Unit - enabling the unit to continue to contribute and perform as a centre of national and international best practice and influence in respect of kidnap, product contamination and extortion issues, in live and reactive operations. 

Also to ensure through training and presentations that there is a uniformed and structured response by Law Enforcement Agencies and Commerce & Industry in life threatening situations. 

To provide support to the Manager, Anti Kidnap and Extortion Unit (AKEU), Firearms and Threat to Life units (as required). 

Manage and facilitate National Crime Agency (NCA) resources in relation to kidnap and extortion offences, firearms deployments and Threats to Life operations, enabling the organisation to fulfil its statutory functions and deliver agreed outcomes. 

To supply relevant agencies throughout the United Kingdom and abroad with strategic and tactical considerations to inform the decision making process during Crime in Action. 

To provide tactical and strategic support to any national or international investigation of a Crime in Action and when appropriate lead the UK’s response. 

To save and preserve life, prevent serious injury and severe economic loss. 

Individuals will have the below knowledge or experience: 

• Good knowledge of the tactics techniques and investigative opportunities to effectively investigate a crime in action. 
• Good understanding of criminal law and UK legislation affecting agency activity including RIPA and CPIA. 
• Knowledge of the use of data communications and intelligence development. 
• Knowledge of risk management. 
• Confident presentational and communication skills. 

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Training or teaching qualification or working towards PGCE, QTLS or PTLLS Level 3 Award in education and training. 
• Police Advanced Driver trained 
• SAFE and SAFE Plus. 
• Operational first aid. 
• Officer Safety Trained 

Licences

A Driving Licence is essential for this role.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria: 
• PIP2 Accreditation or equivalent level experience. 
• S59 IPA/CPIA trained. 
• Achieve DV STRAP/TK security clearance (whilst in role). 
• Driving license.

Security

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check

Security Check and Role Requirements 

To be considered for this vacancy, you will need to successfully complete SC clearance before commencing the role and for specified roles DV clearance within the first 12 months as part of your probation period. 

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result. 

To meet National Security Vetting requirements you will need to have resided in the UK for at a minimum 3 out of the past 5 years for SC clearance and a minimum of 7 out of 10 years for DV clearance. You will still be considered if you were posted abroad as part of your service with the HMG or armed forces or a UK government role during this period.
