Senior Commercial Manager - Aerospace

Our client is a leading aerospace, avionics, and defence engineering company in the UK, designing and manufacturing projects for such clients as the UK MOD for military and civil purposes for the last 80 years.

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to ensure that the company's business objectives are met whilst maintaining the required commercial governance and to co-ordinate commercial activities effectively. You will be a member of the Contract and Commercial team.

As Senior Commercial Manager your main responsibilities will include:

Risk management and mitigation
Leading negotiations on contractual Terms and Conditions with new and existing customers, minimising liability for the Company, and maximising profit
Liaising with colleagues and customers during the preparation of bids and quotations to ensure a speedy response to enquiries likely to lead to contract award
Supporting Company Tender Vetting and Contract Acceptance approvals
Identifying and addressing contract changes, and settling all liability issues affecting operations, as they arise
Summarising key Terms and Conditions, risk and reward for presentation to broader audiences
Own and contract manage a portfolio of contracts
High level of customer interface to maintain positive relationship

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience of UK MoD and export contracting is ideal
A recognised commercial qualification (Desirable)
Experience of managing commercial risk.
Creates an environment in which issues are recognised, accepted and resolved.
Has broad business awareness enabling an appropriate contribution at a senior level
Degree calibre or equivalent relevant experience
Proven relevant experience gained in a commercial discipline in a high-tech industry, ideally within the aerospace/defence/support service sector
Knowledge of the contract development process, contract terms and conditions is a prerequisite for this role.
