Role Summary/Purpose:
    The ME Leader demonstrates technical responsibility for production; designing, implementing and improving processes with flow, error proofing and visual management, with accountability for the systemic aspects of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrialisation activities whilst meeting all safety, quality and regulatory criteria.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Drive strategic development of the team and the business for more efficient, error proofed and visual processes
  • Work across the business to ensure adherence to Tollgate processes including Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL).
  • Partner with manufacturing leadership to identify, prioritise, resource and resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.
  • Ensure the use of Six Sigma and Lean for continuous improvement and new product programs. Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner.
  • Build strong customer relationships
  • Identify manpower requirements and resource accordingly
  • Develop team through skills and Learning & Development assessments plus succession planning activities
  • Develop a systematic approach for strategic cost out initiatives & drive implementation
  • Develop a systematic approach to key characteristic generation
  • Develop systems for the implementation of Process Capability into the organisation
  • Lead and facilitate Risk identification and mitigation within the ME function
  • Support, facilitate and provide project and program management training to the ME function
  • Review change management process and procedures and enhance where appropriate
  • Identify and drive manufacturing systems improvements and development across business
  • Identify, prioritise and drive productivity improvement activities (Yield, Efficiency, Cycle time and Leadtime reduction)
  • Support & drive customer assessment activity
  • Presents product / program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leaders across GE
  • Communicate recommendations and solutions across direct organization and with cross-functional partner organizations
  • Involved in complex decision making (sometimes with external parties)
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Degree qualified preferred [Mechanical Engineering or related discipline] or equivalent
  • Proven process improvement experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to effectively partner across disciplines as well as internal and external organisations
  • High level of computer literacy, in particular MS Office, CAD programs, and business systems such as ERP/MRP
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrable teaming and influencing attributes.
  • H & S and Lean manufacturing qualifications preferred
  • Interpersonal, time management, scheduling and prioritisation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Desired Characteristics:
  • Capable of implementing sound engineering RCCA solutions and have a good understanding and evidence of Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing implementation.
  • Self-motivated and prepared to go the extra mile when required
