The primary focus of the role will be to provide specialist blast design services for a variety of clients. The role requires a person with a broad knowledge of structural engineering as well as an understanding of dynamic loading and material response as well as blast modelling.
Primarily you'll be working with CNI (national infrastructure) clients, including major, large-scale sites through the UK. You'll be working for an established and well-respected Consultancy who offer stability throughout the company itself and with the relationships built with their clients.
Your core expertise will be the assessment and design of structures to minimise and negate damage, both to the buildings and public as the result of an explosion. Adding value to the team and bringing fresh ideas with unique skills/experience or recommendations on new technologies would be welcomed.
Working closely with a range of key clients to offer blast consultancy and project design, adhering to all necessary industry regulations. Attending client meetings to assess current and new security design features. Make recommendations suitable to the client and their individual projects.
- Assessing risks and wider security strategies for blast and HVM management. Undertake project development including preparation of briefs, scope of works (SOWs), etc. and completion of technical tasks. Offer solution design to include security risk management, counter-terrorism, electronic security system design, continuity and resilience, and security operations.
Travel within the UK to client sites, as required. Working from home will also be required.
- Experience in blast principles (e.g. sharding, pressure waves, etc) and design, ideally consultancy and with strong knowledge in blast mitigation/suppression. Understanding of latest modelling processes and programs for the determination of blast loads. Experience of using appropriate modelling software applications. Be able to produce designs for projects according to relevant Standards/Codes. e.g. CPNI, CAST, etc.
Be able to own/manage a client relationship with the ability to assist in the development of project briefs. Be degree qualifications in structural engineering or technical trade qualification. Experience in CTM design and RIBA would be beneficial. Security organisation membership would be desirable. e.g. IET, ASIS, RSES, Syl. / chartered status in MICE/MIStructE, RSES
