When the worst happens, you’ll help us provide answers

For every major incident, there’s a major inquiry. And as information comes to light, it’s recorded on the HOLMES system. As manager of this system, you’ll play a very important role, as you’ll be making sure that HOLMES contributes to investigations as much as possible. With victims’ families looking to us for answers at one of the most difficult times of their lives, your work is not only crucial to the Met, but to the public too.

You’ll join a dedicated team within the HOLMES Support Unit for SCO1 Homicide and Major Crime. The Command’s main role is to investigate murder, but it also deals with work-related deaths, attempted murders, high-risk missing persons and high-risk wanted offenders.

Right now, the HOLMES Support Unit is working closely with 18 major investigations throughout the Met. As HOLMES Manager, you’ll be responsible for all matters relating to the system, during incidents and day to day. You’ll help Homicide and Special Enquiry teams to get the most from HOLMES, training users, checking system security and providing quality assurance for data.

A hub for communication between key areas, you’ll be a link between the Casualty Bureau (CB), the Major Incident Room (MIR) and the Met’s IT team. That means you need to be well organised, with the people skills to deal with contacts across the Met. But the key to success in this challenging and highly rewarding role, is detailed knowledge of HOLMES and its use in investigations.

It’s therefore essential that you’ve worked in a Major Incident Room (MIR) and Casualty Bureau, using the application, and have undertaken relevant training. With this background, you’ll know about Major Incident Room Standard Administration Procedures (MIRSAP) and how to provide technical support. Also able to manage a team, allocate work and plan ahead, you’ll be keen to play your part in the largest police service in the UK.

To apply, click 'APPLY' where you will be re-directed to the Met Police website to download a role specific information pack. Applications will be via a detailed CV, Personal Statement and online application form.

Completed applications must be returned by 16th April 2019

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
