Role Summary/Purpose:
    This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone wishing to progress to an industry recognised skilled level. We have several roles initially for semi-skilled operators learning as you work within a variety of highly skilled roles focused on the manufacture of metallic components. Areas will include CNC machining, Jig Boring, manual milling and jig drilling.Candidates invited to interview stage will be asked to complete a face to face interview and a hands-on technical assessment
Essential Responsibilities:
    The role will include a range of day to day tasks where you will be working with and learning from highly skilled Operators in the disciplines stated above. After initial training, you will be working on simple aircraft parts and gradually building your skills and experience to the level needed for more complex and demanding tasksThe successful applicant will be able to:
  • Work effectively as part of a larger multi-disciplined team within a manufacturing environment to ensure that production requirements are achieved
  • Undertake study and work activities as required to achieve NVQ 2 & 3 qualifications. We will support you in achieving an NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations in our first year. You will be expected to continue your career development as we support you to study and work towards an NVQ level 3, to reach a skilled operator status.
  • Learn new key skills to perform a range of manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate within a team under minimal supervision
  • Have a methodical approach which is essential in a machine shop environment
  • You will be responsible for the quality of the work that you produce. You will be trained and must be able to use standard work shop equipment to undertake a degree of self-inspection
  • Complete and maintain simple route card operation paperwork, required for aviation traceability
  • Please note that this role will involve physical activity. Therefore, you must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance if required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Be flexible regarding shift patterns we are working (appropriate notice to change will be given and shift allowances are applicable)
  • Good level of dexterity
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety
  • Competent in numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Previous manufacturing experience would be advantageous
  • Drive to succeed as an individual and as part of a team
  • Positive approach to problem solving
  • Participating in training programmes and procedures
  • Willing to learn and adapt with a strong focus on flexibility
  • Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Excellent time keeping
  • Must commit to attend internal training and undertake study as required to successfully achieve the NVQ 2 & 3 qualifications
