About the Role:

The client requires a contract Senior Systems Engineer to define and manage the requirement definition, implementation, verification and validation of a complex solution to ensure it fulfils the result, outcome or effect that is intended, where the requirement should be an unambiguous statement of the capability that the system must deliver. This role includes:
-Delivering allocated tasks within budget and to timescales as agreed with the project management team.
-Conducting Systems Engineer tasks throughout the systems lifecycle consisting of:
oGenerating, understanding and reviewing user requirements documentation;
oWriting the project System Requirements Specifications;
oDeveloping and documenting the System architecture;
oDeveloping and documenting the systems design through System Design Specifications and Interface Specifications;
oDefining the system's sub-systems and their requirements including hardware and software;
oDeveloping and continually refining the system acceptance strategy, and verification method for each system requirement (incl. Acceptance Management Plan);
oEnsuring the specification, design and acceptance are fully traceable;
- System testing and reporting:
oLeading/ Assisting with system testing;
oDeriving, defining and documenting testing:
oConducting integration testing;
oConducting system testing (informal and formal);
-Configuration and Data Management
-Process Compliance
oAdhere to the company's systems engineering processes and procedures.
-Supporting the safety verification process as required;
-Support planning through input to project schedule by estimating tasks and adhere to agreed estimates/timescales.
-Supports Bids by providing input on technical solutions, estimates and plans.

About You:

To be suitable for the contract Senior Systems Engineer role, you will need to be, educated to HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant subject and have solid experience of the application of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle and 'V-Model' across the full programme lifecycle, with some previous focus of Requirements Management (Elicitation, Derivation, Decomposition, Flow-down, Verification & Validation) across the full programme lifecycle using Systems Engineering tools (DOORS, Bugzilla/Jira, Windchill, IFS, Matlab/Simulink etc.). A background in the defence industry is preferred, especially organisational structure and electronic systems used (e.g. Radar, communication, weapon, fire control, decoy, surveillance). It will also help to have knowledge of fundamental commercial and financial issues, Software Engineering best practices and common pitfalls and fundamental project management practices.
