Job Details

As an Experienced Intelligence Officer, your role will be to develop intelligence, conduct research and analysis in support of the National Crime Agency's Annual Plan, National Control Strategy and other identified priorities in the fight to cut serious and organised crime. 

You will be carrying out cross-source data exploitation, analysis, delivery and dissemination of intelligence relating to serious and organised crime, in support of tactical, operational and strategic objectives. You will interact with other departments and teams, and also with external partners. You will be playing a key role in supporting analytic teams with the tasking of Intelligence assets and collection of information. 

You may be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling child sexual exploitation and abuse. This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material. You should consider the sensitive nature of the work before deciding to apply. 

All officers working on or supporting this type of operational activity will undergo a psychological assessment on taking up the role and at regular intervals once in post.

These roles are also available on a secondment basis. 

To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role. 

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result.

Technical Criteria 

You will be required to supply evidence of the following during the application process: 

Describe, in detail, a time when you managed a piece of intelligence development work. How did you do this? What did you have to consider? What were the outcomes? This should include evidence of the following: 

• Basic understanding of the use of intelligence by law enforcement/government; 
• Knowledge of intelligence collection methods and techniques; 
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. CPIA, ECHR) and its impact on the role and Agency/law enforcement/government activity; 
• Experience of researching and gathering information from a wide variety of sources; 
• An understanding of information management and data integrity issues; 
• Experience of identifying, assessing and managing risk within a law enforcement/national security environment 

Qualifications

• IPP accreditation or equivalent. 

All of our Experienced Intelligence Officers are required to hold Intelligence Professionalisation Program (IPP) accreditation or be able to provide equivalent evidence as detailed in the personal statement. 

This evidence should have been attained within the last 18 months 

If you hold IPP accreditation please attach evidence of your IPP certificate with your application. Please note – If you have selected that you hold this accreditation but fail to evidence your certification with your application, your application will not be considered.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check

Security Check and Role Requirements 

To be considered for this vacancy, you will need to successfully complete SC clearance before commencing the role and for specified roles DV clearance within the first 12 months as part of your probation period. 

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result. 

To meet National Security Vetting requirements you will need to have resided in the UK for at a minimum 3 out of the past 5 years for SC clearance and a minimum of 7 out of 10 years for DV clearance. You will still be considered if you were posted abroad as part of your service with the HMG or armed forces or a UK government role during this period
