As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, your role will be to manage and lead on the provision of complex and wide ranging analysis in accordance with the National Crime Agency's Annual Plan, the National Control Strategy and other identified priorities in the fight to cut serious and organised crime. 

To manage the timely negotiation, authorisation, production, quality assurance and appropriate handling and dissemination of intelligence products to inform the decision making process. To manage, enhance and improve analytical functions within the business area. 

Identify and promote good practice by developing and providing specialist expertise in analysis. 

You may be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling child sexual exploitation and abuse. This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material. You should consider the sensitive nature of the work before deciding to apply. 

All officers working on or supporting this type of operational activity will undergo a psychological assessment on taking up the role and at regular intervals once in post.

These roles are also available on a secondment basis. 

To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role. 

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result. 

Essential Criteria 

You will be required to supply evidence of: 

• IPP Intelligence Analyst accreditation or equivalent 
• Formal Intel Analysis Training (eg NIAT/GIAT/DIAM) 


Technical Criteria 

You will be required to supply evidence of the following during the application process: 

Describe, in detail, a time when you supervised junior colleagues in carrying out analysis for strategic, tactical or operational purposes. This should include evidence of the following: 

• Good understanding of the use of intelligence by law enforcement/government. 
• Good knowledge of intelligence analysis methods and techniques. 
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. CPIA, ECHR) and its impact on the role and Agency/law enforcement/government activity. 
• Experience of researching, gathering and interpreting information from a wide variety of sources. 
• An understanding of information management and data integrity issues. 
• Experience of identifying, assessing and managing risk within a law enforcement/ national security environment. 

Qualifications

• IPP Intelligence Analyst accreditation or equivalent 
• Formal Intel Analysis Training (eg NIAT/GIAT/DIAM) Please attach copy of certificates with your application. 

All of our Senior intelligence officers are required to hold either Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) accreditation or ALL of the equivalent points listed below relating to intelligence experience: 

This evidence should have been attained within the last 18 months. 

If you hold an IPP accreditation please attach evidence of your IPP certificate with your application. Please note – If you have selected that you hold this accreditation but fail to evidence your certification with your application, your application will not be considered. 

Security

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check

To be considered for this vacancy, you will need to successfully complete SC clearance before commencing the role and for specified roles DV clearance within the first 12 months as part of your probation period. 

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result. 

To meet National Security Vetting requirements you will need to have resided in the UK for at a minimum 3 out of the past 5 years for SC clearance and a minimum of 7 out of 10 years for DV clearance. You will still be considered if you were posted abroad as part of your service with the HMG or armed forces or a UK government role during this period.
