We currently have an exciting opportunity for a well-motivated and enthusiastic person to join our Enabling Services – Security Department as a Personnel Security & Vetting Administrator. This role plays a critical part of the overall security function for Roke.
Working with the Vetting Manager and alongside the Head of Enabling Services, you will be fully responsible for the whole vetting life cycle for Roke staff.
What will your role look like?
As the Personnel Security & Vetting Administrator you will:
  • Liaise with HR departments to ensure that the appropriate security clearances for new staff and contractors are obtained or transferred as required, providing updates of employees screening
  • Undertake weekly visits to external parties who manage areas of the clearance process and assist them with the administration and processing
  • Monitor existing security clearances for expiry and initiate renewals before expiry using an online portal. Ensure all new employees have the correct clearances, references, right to work and BPSS documents.
  • Monitor completion of Annual Security Appraisals.
  • Undertake internal and external verification of security clearances.
  • Update the clearance management system and associated spreadsheets to keep the business up to date with the clearances in progress.
  • Ensure new starters are issued with access control badges according to their clearance level and have completed all new starter paperwork.
  • Conduct pre-vetting assessments and briefings for new employees prior to commencement of employment on site.
  • Provide advice and guidance on completing Security forms to new and existing staff members.
  • Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment.
  • Take responsibility for understanding and undertaking their job in a healthy, safety and environmentally responsible manner and will seek clarity where necessary.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with HR, Recruitment and Resourcing.
Role Requirements:
  • Carry out specified security tasks to support the secure operation of the business.
  • Process new vetting applications and renewals and process transfers of security clearances.
  • Register, issue, receive and dispatch classified material in accordance with HMG Security Policy Framework.
  • Conduct musters of classified material in accordance with Company procedures.
Key Outputs:
  • Processing of security clearance requirements within required timescales
  • Accurate accounting of classified material.
  • Maintaining accurate Management Information records on the security status of all applicants/staff
  • Processing of visit requests within required timescales.
What do we expect from you?
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook skills and experience
  • Effective communication skills capable of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • An enthusiastic team player with the ability to work autonomously and display initiative when required.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyse data and generate reports for management.
  • You will ideally have previous expertise within a personnel security and security vetting role, experience in a public sector security role with knowledge of the UK vetting process would be a distinct advantage for this role.
Where will you be based?
Your work will be located at Roke's site in Romsey with some travel to our Gloucester office and customer sites.

Security
Due to the nature of this position, you will be willing to undergo, and eligible to achieve DV clearance. As a result, you should ideally be a British Citizen and be eligible to work in the UK.
For SC clearance 5 years residency and for DV clearance 10 years residency in the UK is essential. You will also need to provide full details of your employment and education history for the last 10 years as part of the DV security screening process for this role.
All of our employees are required to undergo security clearance and any offer of employment is conditional upon you obtaining developed vetting (DV) clearance.
