  • Knowledge: developing the research and infrastructure for improving evidence of 'what works'. Over time, this will ensure policing practice and standards are based on knowledge, not custom and convention.
  • Education: supporting the development of individual members of the profession. We set educational requirements to assure the public of the quality and consistency of policing skills, and facilitate academic accreditation and recognition of our members' expertise.
  • Standards: drawing on the best available evidence of 'what works' to set standards in policing for forces and individuals, for example, through Authorised Professional Practice and peer review.
  • Building the College: developing our infrastructure so we achieve even greater efficiency and effectiveness and establish the College as an independent professional body and employer of choice.

Applications are invited for the post of Membership System Support Officer.

The selected candidate will provide end-to-end analysis and technical focussed support for a key area of Business Support functionality and work as an integrated team to support the College's business needs in enabling it to operate cost-effectively and efficiently.

Specifically supporting Membership Systems

All applicants must hold:
  • Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC, BTEC Certificate/Diploma, NVQ Level 4) in relevant topic or extensive equivalent experience
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development

Additional information and eligibility:

This role is available with the following options:
  • Secondment opportunity until to 27.03.2020 serving police staff at the rank/equivalent rank of Constable/Sergeant, who have their chief officer's approval. Chief Officer's approval must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC. Approval for secondment must accompany an application.

Police staff applying for a secondment opportunity must have a current vetting level of recruitment vetting (RV) as a minimum. Prior to submitting an application please contact your force vetting department to check your vetting level.

Central service conditions may apply for police staff.
  • as a secondment opportunity to existing College of Policing employees and those working within the Civil Service. Please note you will be required to obtain the written permission of your line manager prior to submitting your application. College of Policing employees should complete an internal application form.

Temporary promotion is available for those colleagues who are directly employed by the College only.
  • as a fixed term appointment until 27.03.2020.

If this post is London-based, the salary range will be: £28,020 to £33,259, working 36 hours per week.

If this post is nationally based, the salary range will be: £22,982 to £27,723, working 37 hours per week.

New entrants are normally appointed at the pay scale minimum for their grade although there is some scope for negotiation based on skills and experience.

Existing staff should note that, if successful, their salary on appointment would normally be determined by applying the College's usual salary progression rules. If the appointment is on level transfer, your substantive salary (excluding any allowances) will remain unchanged (unless it exceeds the maximum stated within the College pay band) and unless the successful candidate's current salary is below the relevant College grade minimum. If the appointment is on temporary or substantive promotion, the successful candidate's salary will be increased by the appropriate promotion percentage or moved to the relevant College grade minimum, whichever is the greater.

This post is open to UK nationals, Commonwealth citizens, EEA nationals of other member states and certain non-EEA family members. There must be no employment restriction or time limit on your permitted stay in the UK. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for at least three years, and in some cases five or even 10 years, preceding your application due to the requirement to have a checkable history for security vetting purposes. If you answer 'No' to the questions regarding nationality, then it is unlikely your application will be pursued.
