Currently seeking an Infrastructure Consultant, focusing mainly on Wintel environments, to fulfil a 12 month contract opportunity for my client based at their offices in Gloucestershire.

Due to the nature of the role and the time scale and requirements issued by the client, candidates have been advised to hold current active DV clearance.

Role Overview:

The Infrastructure Engineer will work in predominantly Wintel environments and will be responsible for the 2nd line maintenance / support of the Microsoft Windows Servers and desktop Operating Systems, including associated applications across all Desktop services within the scope of the Desktop Service contract; resolving incidents and implementing changes as directed by Team leads or Project Managers as applicable.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Apply Operating System patches
  • Liaise with members of the client community to resolve technical incidents, problems and issues or provide desk-side support as required
  • Completion of User fulfilment requests within the specified SLA timeframes
  • Low level administration of Active Directory objects
  • Building Microsoft Windows based Servers and clients using the Microsoft suite of deployment tools
  • Updating and administration of changes to Configuration Items (CI)
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and monitoring using the appropriate tooling
  • Work in a disciplined and structured manner in accordance with ITIL 2011 based service management processes
  • Attend client facing meetings as required
  • Ensure Team leads are aware of any issues within the scope of the environments that are supported by Sopra Steria
  • Manage all customer issues through the proper escalation channels
  • Participation in the 24-hour on-all rota resolving incidents / service restoration after a period of familiarisation

 

Skills

Essential:

  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft Window Server and Desktop Operating systems, including but not limited to: Window Server 2012 R2 & 2016 and Window 7, 64bit & Windows 10
  • Possess an understanding of User Management in Microsoft Active Directory
  • has knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V virtualisation and virtual machine management
  • An understanding of PowerShell scripting
  • A general understanding of IP and Name Services (DNS / DHCP)
  • A general understanding of networking components, technologies and terminology
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • A willingness to acquire new skills via self-learning or formal courses as required
  • Customer service skills, focused upon meeting customer needs
  • Knowledge and experience with ITSM/ITIL V3 Reference model
  • A willingness to join the on-call rota following a period of familiarisation
