Job Details

Working for one of the area's largest employers and enjoying an excellent work/life balance, this role offers a competitive basic salary plus allowances, generous holiday entitlement, nine day working fortnight, workplace pension scheme and additional flexible benefits scheme.

We are looking to appoint a supervisor to manage and provide direction to operatives undertaking duties in the support of implementing Special Operation Group (SOG) activities throughout AWE. This is a vital baseline role to ensure we meet our license condition and manage work with nuclear material.

As part of this role you will be accountable for undertaking emergency response as identified within the service level agreement and meeting the client requirements within agreed time and budgetary limitations.

You will be responsible for the detailed management of technical aspects associated with work packages, pre-works or task methodologies to ensure AWE are compliant. Tasks undertaken will be varied and could involve preparing permits, risk assessments, participating in periodic safety audits or producing and presenting progress statements.

To be considered the ideal candidate will need to have:

  • Extensive experience working in a Nuclear decommissioning and decontamination environment
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements appropriate to the job are essential
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • The ability to obtain various AWE accreditations to undertake the position (e.g. forklift truck license, work supervisory officer (WSO) and LOLER to name a few)
  • Experience working with RA material

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the relevant security clearance.

AWE plays a crucial role in the defence of the United Kingdom, by providing and maintaining the warheads for the country's nuclear deterrent. We are a centre of scientific, engineering and technological excellence, with some of the most advanced research, design and production facilities in the world. Our unique expertise also assists the UK Government in developing and delivering a range of innovative and integrated support services, including national nuclear security and counter-terrorism solutions.

AWE is an equal opportunities employer. We value diversity and welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from sections of the community which are currently under-represented at AWE, including women, BAME and people with disabilities.
