The AWE Skills Academy is looking for someone to join our team to provide instruction, advice, guidance, supervision and line management of apprentices, particularly those who are developing their skills and competence in the workplace. We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing and nurturing the talents and aspirations of people who are at the beginning of a career in engineering.

As a Electronics and Control and Instrumentation Workplace Assessor, you will be required to plan and deliver the training syllabus and assess apprenticeship requirements on time and to plan, working in partnership with all staff associated with the delivery of the programme. This will involve providing instruction, advice, guidance, supervision and line management of AWE apprentices as required and ensure that apprentices have the opportunities to acquire and demonstrate the required skills, knowledge and behaviours to satisfy the standards required of the business, their apprenticeship programme and each apprentice's chosen trade or profession.

We are looking for the right candidate to have:

  • National Certificate or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • Proven ability in literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to inspire and lead early career employees
  • Occupationally competence in engineering principles and techniques, particularly Control & Instrumentation
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to appeal to a range of audiences from new apprentices to senior management.
  • Good influencing skills to ensure appropriate learning opportunities and development of individuals
  • Great organisational ability, able to cope with multiple tasks and deliver in the face of challenges
  • Creativity in approaches to work and problem solving
  • Ability to initiate own work and have high personal standards
  • Proven team working skills within a challenging environment

As part of this role you must:

  • Have the ability for working with a diverse range of people and grades across the business, particularly young people
  • Be able to access all areas of site to monitor work placements, including RA areas
  • Be willing to attend off-site events (e.g. meetings, conferences, residential courses, etc.) which may include short periods away from home including overnight stays
  • Be willing to undertake and pass a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
