Principal System Engineer: A long established and successful defence engineering company is looking to recruit a Principal Systems Engineer for their Basildon team.

Principal Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
As part of the Equipment IPT Engineering team you will be responsible for the delivery of certified equipment for assigned platforms ahead of schedule through to successful completion of First of Type Testing and released into follow-on embodiment, to achieve Initial and Final Operating Capability.

Working under direction from the UK Mode 5 IFF Equipment IPT Engineering Lead, this position is a hands-on role ensuring Technical input is delivered for assigned platforms.
You will work with Equipment providers and their technical team to ensure Maturity Design Gate Reviews are held and achieved ahead of schedule and that you acquire detailed understanding of the equipment to provide support back into the platform IPTs .

You will also work closely with other functions within the IPT to manage design changes, solve problems on complex systems and manage engineering aspects of external supply chain engagement. Applying your knowledge of systems engineering and whole product lifecycle, you will manage technical aspects of subcontract relationships with Equipment providers.

Working hands on with guidance and support from specialists, you will ensure that all engineering aspects are considered and assessed through the maturity gate reviews to ensure design integrity, including Human Factors, Interface Management, Hardware Design, Software Design, Configuration Management, ILS, Security, Safety and Interoperability with other platform systems

You will be responsible for the update and maintenance of all Equipment documentation and completion for use with suppliers and delivery to the customer, including Requirements Database (DOORS), and the Verification and Validation Requirements Matrix (VVRM), completing tasks in accordance with appropriate processes and procedures to a high standard.

Principal Systems Engineer - Qualifications and Experience:
? This role requires systems engineers who are able to challenge the established "process" and methods, with a flexible approach to change from others.
? Ability to demonstrate and apply system-level thinking
? Knowledge of new and existing Mode 5 IFF technologies and products
? A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
? Self-motivated with an aptitude to problem solving and ability to drive difficult issues to conclusion
? Hands on experience with some of the software tools used on the programme, DOORS, System Architect, Teamcenter
? Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact with subject matter experts regarding a range of technical and operational topics
? Experience in Systems integration and certification with proven experience and understanding of MIL and DEF Standards and Certification requirements
? Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation
