The Role
PSD are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Communications Operator who has experience of working in a Security Control Room/Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment. This is a pivotal role supporting both operational and support staff and managers in the Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) and by engaging with senior managers and all staff. Your role is to ensure their safety and the security and protection of an iconic building and its wider estate.

Daily duties will include monitoring incidents and dispatches, making effective decisions in terms of deploying Police Officers, Fire Officers and Security Officers and keeping Security Officers up to date via a personal radio system. You will be continually offering advice and guidance to operational teams as well as dealing with incoming calls which can be contentious/of a difficult nature.   

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:  

• Sound knowledge of the workings and operational requirements of a Security Department or operation.

• Knowledge and experience of using a CCTV system including responsibilities under the Data Protection ACT

• Knowledge and experience of using an alarm system
