Job Details

The Victim Identification Officer’s main responsibility is to conduct investigations of IIOC (indecent images of Children) with the purpose of intervening through safeguarding activity in complex child abuse investigations to identify the victims and offenders. Applicants should note that this role involves frequent exposure to extreme child abuse images and material, all officers working in CEOP must undergo a physchological welbeing assessment before taking up the role and at regular intervals once in post. 

We are looking for individuals with either ‘Professionalising Investigation Programme’ Investigations Skills at PIP2 level College of Policing accreditation or ‘Investigative Professional Practice’ accreditation (IPP) – or an alternative recognised qualification/accreditation issued by a Government body. The idea candidate will have a good understanding of criminal law and relevant UK legislation affecting CSAE activity and experience in managing and investigation CSAE offences online. The post holder must also have proven experience in using technical software to analyse data to extract intelligence information and of using open source tools and techniques.

Experience Criteria 

You will be required to supply evidence of: 
 

  • Good understanding of criminal law and relevant UK legislation affecting CSAE activity
  • Experience in managing and investigating CSAE offences online
  • Proven experience in using technical software to analyse data to extract intelligence information
  • Proven experience of using open source tools and technique

Qualifications

Candidates are required to provide evidence of the following qualifications/ accreditations in order to be considered for this role: 

• PIP2 or IPP (or an alternative recognised qualification/ accreditation issued by a Government body). 
• Previous experience of CSAE investigations online
