Job Details

We are looking for a Senior Child Protection manager to provide strategic direction and leadership of the child protection service, ensuring the high quality of child protection work within the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Investigations and across the Agency. The role involves providing leadership for the team of Child Protection Advisors who work alongside their investigations colleagues tackling, disrupting and preventing child sex abuse and exploitation. 

The post holder will be someone who comes from an extensive social worker background and who has the necessary qualifications, expertise and competence in child protection. They will be expected to provide senior managerial cover for the work of their team and be an integral member of and contributor to the CEOP Investigations SLT. They will have a sound knowledge of the legal requirements applicable to child protection and able to link in with influential and important internal and external stakeholders and partners. The successful candidate will be expected to have strong communication and influencing skills, together with an ability to demonstrate flexibility and improve the capabilities and skills of their staff and unit

Experience Criteria 

You will be required to supply evidence of: 
 

  • Understand how to supervise child protection, manage operational risk and ensure accountability for case work in a fast moving operational environment
  • Ability to develop expert understanding in specialist areas including complex child protection/abuse, missing children and adults and child sexual exploitation education and prevention
  • Post qualifying experience to include experience of senior management of statutory social work service or evidence the understanding of the main principles which underpin this level of management and leadership within a front line social work service
  • Extensive experience of managing online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) investigations with a particular focus on victim child protection and safeguarding

Qualifications

Candidates must provide evidence of the following qualification/accreditation to be considered for this role: 
• Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) registered Social Worker
