Job Details

The Serious Crime Analysis Section (SCAS) work to identify the potential emergence of serial killers and serial rapists at the earliest stage of their offending. This role based within SCAS and is designed to support the strategic direction of the Serious Crime Analysis Section and ensure that high quality, operational products are able to be provided to investigators 

A SCAS Assistant Crime Analyst’s role is to review case papers received from police forces relating to serious sexual offences and murders and then code/input this offence information onto a bespoke SCAS database and the Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System (ViCLAS) From there the Assistant Crime Analyst will act as a point of contact for forces submitting case details to the unit and will be allocated designated contact within specific police forces throughout the UK to liaise with to obtain case details. This role is integral to the SCAS achieving its remit to carry out comparative case analysis on a national basis on serious sexually motivated crime. 

The ideal candidate for this role will have the ability to extract and interpret complex data/information and code it accurately, possess good written/drafting skills, the ability to compile accurate reports and have demonstrable administrative/organisation skills with the ability to multitask.
