We have an interesting opportunity to support the contract change process within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s IT delivery department.  Liaising with key stakeholders on the customer and supplier side, as well as within BAE, you will be a key point of contact in progressing changes at pace. 

BAE Systems Applied Intelligence provides the FCO with a Service Management Integration team which is embedded within the Knowledge and Technology Directorate to deliver in support of a number of niche services on behalf of the customer.  In particular the SMI Contract Change Team is responsible for the overall contract change service and supplier management that the SMI provides on behalf of the customer.

The team are responsible for managing the relationship between the customer and the suppliers, as well as providing a defined route to progress changes.  They ensure that the process is fit for purpose, that the change process is efficient and thorough, the records are accurate and up to date and that any issues are escalated appropriately. Continuous service improvement is an important part of the role and the successful candidate will be expected to support, define and drive an ongoing programme of enhancements across the team.
 
Our ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail with good written and IT skills.  They must have an interest in working in a fast-paced, customer oriented environment as a wide breadth of knowledge and the ability to learn about the business functions is attainable through working in this team.  You will be able to build an understanding of the customer’s goals and drivers as well as many key contacts.  This role is well positioned to provide a view across all teams within the SMI, as well as broadening knowledge of the commercial function. 


What you’ll be doing

  • Customer & supplier relationship management
  • Supporting in preparation of changes with suppliers and liaising with the customer.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with the customer’s suppliers.
  • Ensuring supplier contract compliance through obligations and deliverables management.
  • Once experienced, opportunities to provide solid contract analysis and recommendations to support decision making.
  • Opportunity to develop the contract management function with the customer’s suppliers.
  • Providing experience, commercial advice and support to the account team and key customer stakeholders.
  • Liaising closely with technical, project management and other functions as required.

What we’re looking for

  • Attention to detail and ability to handle large levels of information in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to liaise, influence and work with senior levels of Customer and Customer’s supply base, as well as forge positive working relationships with peers and colleagues. 
  • Efficiency - Proactive completer/finisher, with the want and desire to own actions and projects through to completion.
  • Ability to learn and understand the technologies that underpin the FCO IT system
  • Ability to learn and understand the FCO’s wider business requirements and strategies
  • Ability to learn and understand all relevant security, legal and commercial frameworks that underpin FCO project delivery
  • Although not essential, previous commercial, procurement or subcontract experience, ideally in an IT environment is desirable

This position reports to the Managed Supplier Commercial Manager.  This role can be based at either of our customer’s sites in King Charles Street in Westminster or Hanslope Park near Milton Keynes. You will be required to visit both sites from time to time.  There is an expectation of some home working as well.  Although core hours are 08:30 to 17:30, there can be some flexibility to accommodate individual circumstances.
