Functional Team Lead - Mechanical Engineering

Our defence engineering and electronic products client in Greenford is seeking a Functional Team Lead for Mechanical Engineering to lead a team of mechanical engineers on-site. You will take responsibility for designing and maintaining all mechanical aspects of the client's products. This includes management and configuration of the production drawing pack.

As Functional Team Lead your responsibilities will include:

Understanding and supporting project, department, and team objectives
Providing support with resource planning, resource requirements, and recruitment for the team
Line management responsibilities and resource allocation
Liaising with Engineering Managers, Capability Managers and other stakeholders
Managing a team within a functional group, its resources, knowledge, skills, processes, procedures and tools to align with the current and future needs of the business
Developing the team through best practice and engineering excellence.

About you:

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
A good understanding of key mechanical engineering principles e.g. material selection, assembly techniques and manufacturing processes.
Have a good appreciation of related engineering disciplines (e.g. electronic engineering, system engineering).
Manufacturing processes & materials knowledge for small to medium volume production
Full driving licence
Capable of achieving Security Clearance (SC)
Occasional need for work at other sites, worldwide travel and being away from home for reasonable lengths of time.
