Job Details

We have an exciting opportunity available to join the Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) Customer Service Centre (CSC) based in Birmingham (close to the NEC / Birmingham Airport).

IT has never been more important to national policing than in 2019. Here at our West Midlands based CSC, we supply the services that support Counter Terrorism Policing Officers and Staff nationwide, 24 hours a day, every day.

Due to ongoing Operational requirements and the need to expand our business-critical systems, the CSC requires further staff in this key function.

Join us, and you’ll be playing your part in protecting the country. You’ll get to work in a centre of excellence and enhance a crucial police resource. With outstanding training and development, you’ll enjoy a support role like no other.

Your main task is to provide 1st line IT support for the CSC. You’ll be the first point of contact for all users, who’ll contact you via phone and email. Your first task is to log tickets and route them to the correct resolution team. Where possible, you’ll resolve issues straight away, providing helpful, accurate service.

Previously, you’ve worked in a customer service role, ideally with call management systems. You’ll have developed an excellent telephone manner and a high standard of written English. Now you’re looking for a new challenge where you can learn and grow your skills.

To join us, you must be punctual and reliable, with a keen eye for detail. A good knowledge of IT is an advantage but it isn’t essential.

Please note that you’ll be working a 24/7 shift-based rota and that this role requires applicants to have an existing SC or DV security clearance that will not expire for the duration of the contract. Applicants must also be willing to undergo NPPV3 vetting and operate as a Ltd Company.

Your IT skills can make all the difference to UK policing. Join us in a key role at our Customer Service Centre.

Please register your interest in this role by supplying a CV and covering letter.

Essential Skills

  • Customer Service Experience
  • Knowledge of common IT software, hardware and terminology
  • Excellent standard of written English
  • Ability to work 24/7 and 12 hour shifts
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • An existing SC or DV Security Clearance is Essential

Desirable Skills:

  • ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management
  • Experience of STRAP Environments
  • Experience of HMG Protective Marking Scheme

The contract is at least for 6 months but likely to be extended for the right candidate(s)

Your skills could help protect the UK. With the ongoing terrorist threat, there has never been a more important time to be working alongside some of the best and brightest to help keep people safe.

A career in Counter Terrorism Policing (CT Policing) is like no other. Every day offers a variety of exciting challenges and exceptional opportunities played out on a regional, national and international stage.

With a range of roles spanning the UK, you won’t always need a background in security to play a part in keeping the UK safe. From finance to project management, data analysis to communications and more, we are always looking for vast range of skills, knowledge and experiences to join our talented teams. Whether you’re a serving police officer, police staff or have never worked in policing before, there are opportunities for you to explore.

This better equips us to make a difference, to staff wellbeing and to the success of CT Policing in keeping people safe from Terrorism. We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working arrangements, including part time working, blended and remote working or job shares.

Work with us and you will be joining a world-class Counter Terrorism Policing network. In addition to fascinating work and talented colleagues you’ll find a range of benefits including a competitive pension, exciting career pathways, generous holiday allowances, opportunities for secondments across the CT Policing network and much more.

Some of our roles mean you will have access to the most sensitive material on a daily basis, which will require security vetting and is part of our recruitment process. Please note that this can sometimes take up to six months or longer. Information and guidance is available to support applicants during the vetting process.
