About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit Mechanical Engineers of various levels to join our In-Service Submarine Platform Engineering team who provide critical in-service support to Submarines for the Royal Navy. You'll be part of a team who provide post-design engineering support services, applying their initiative and expertise to think out the engineering challenges that need to be overcome to support the continued delivery of safe, capable and available submarines.

You'll be conducting investigations and design studies with a specific focus on submarine propulsion systems, auxiliary systems and platform wide design issues. This will ensure the continued operation of these assets; developing and maturing technical solutions and associated specifications; producing technical reports in order that the required design changes can be proposed and progressed; conducting design and safety reviews in order to identify the technical and safety risks and conducting on board inspections and assessments (operational and in maintenance).

You'll also be responsible for the day-to-day project management of these tasks as well as writing reports and providing recommendations that detail the proposed solution and or way ahead which will give consideration to priority, programme and budget.

As well as being part of a business that continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, we'll also provide you with all the training, support and benefits that you'd expect from a global company.

What do I need to do the role?

You'll need to have a minimum of a HNC in Mechanical or Marine Engineering and have experience of or knowledge of the design and upkeep of mechanical systems on-board submarines.

Would also like you to have experience in the following areas:
* Able to deploy good communication and influencing skills as you'll work closely with the client and our internal and external stakeholders.
* The ability to deliver work packages to deadlines and budget.
* Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills.

What else do I need to know?

* We are based Keynsham, Bristol.
* Permanent position with a competitive annual salary and excellent benefits.
* 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexible hours.
* Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
