About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Vehicle Mechanic to carry out diagnosis, inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul to a variety of vehicles and general electro-mechanical equipment types, in accordance with technical publications, Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

You will carry out tasks to the required standard and specification as detailed on the BaaN job card, in accordance with AESP's, customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, process plans and other technical publications as may be prescribed.

You will also undertake diagnostic, repair and maintenance duties on equipment, and to carry out road testing/functionality testing with completion of equipment documentation and test certificates / reports when required.

You will ensure stores and equipment issued to jobs are used correctly and fit for purpose whilst maintaining the requirements of COSHH, Health & Safety and other statutory regulations and ensure a good standard of housekeeping, cleanliness and safety in the work area, following the correct disposal of any hazardous or waste products.

You will maintain tools and equipment in a good serviceable order, reporting any faults to the Supervisor and be responsible for their security at all times whilst taking responsibility to consult the Supervisor regarding any problems affecting the repair process, especially when additional work is deemed necessary or affecting Quality or Health & Safety.

Another main task will be to execute other minor duties commensurate with grade and post on occasional basis as detailed by the Line Management chain.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll need a recognised apprenticeship or appropriate training qualification to skilled status/Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic and you must be a competent user of the appropriate IT packages and a hold SC Clearance level authorisation.

The following is also desirable:
  • Good communication skills with both internal and external customers
  • Current and full driving licence, including Cat 'C'.
  • Willing to undertake additional duties from time to time, as requested by Line Management.
