A strategic alliance has been formed between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police in order to enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets. By working more closely together the forces will benefit from greater operational and organisational resilience, making us the fourth largest geographic police area in England and Wales.

The main purpose of the role is to develop, source, collect, manipulate, analyse and advise on crime and disorder research, information (including geographical) and intelligence in order to support and inform evidence based decision making within the Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs).

Main Responsibilities:
To support the CSP lead officers, to inform strategic planning, transformation; the identification and delivery of priorities and adhere to reporting cycles.

To liaise, collect and analyse data and information from a range of CSP partners.

To advise in the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of projects and help guide future planning and decision-making of projects and budgets for the CSPs.

To contribute to the development of a Community Safety Strategic Needs Assessment and any products associated with the refresh. 

To assess the impact of crime and disorder in the local and wider context, identify emerging trends and provide products that include recommendations supported by academic research.

To ensure data is managed and obtained ethically and in accordance with the relevant legislation, policy, protocols and codes of practice.

To shape and develop processes to enhance the quality and sharing of data required by CSP partners to deliver organisational objectives and priorities.


To utilise analytical techniques in the interpretation of data and performance of the CSP, providing products in a variety of formats appropriate for the audience.

To support the delivery of a continuous improvement philosophy by working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to identify and promote continuous improvement needs and activities.

To keep up to date with changes in legislation and research outcomes to continuously improve the way CSP data is collected and analysed.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

Experience/Skills:  
Degree (Level 5) qualification or equivalent. 

Knowledge of information management and qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques.

A working knowledge of statistical formulae and the ways in which it can be manipulated, interpreted and presented.

Proven experience of performance/information analysis and production of analytical products.

Experience of using problem solving methodologies/continuous improvement approaches.

Experience of the exchange of data and data management with stakeholders.

Experience of using data and intelligence from a range of sources to inform the development and management of projects or initiatives.


Good IT skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages and performance management software.

Analytical and problem solving skills.

Proven ability to progress multiple work assignments. 

Excellent communication skills including the ability to produce and present concise reports.

Special Conditions:
Regular travel throughout the Warwickshire and West Mercia policing areas.
