Duration: 5 Months [initially]

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a Obsolescence Manager to join a large and established team, tasked with enabling a large scale programme of work, delivering secure access to information and communication services for users across various locations in the UK and overseas, providing a configurable network that has a single sign-on.

The Obsolescence Manager is required to provide technical leadership and expertise in the co-ordination, design and implementation of robust obsolescence management strategies and solutions, whilst continuously developing client obsolescence management business processes and associated resources.

The role is fundamental in the management, conduct and delivery of obsolescence management tasks to ensure that the availability and performance demands of the client's business programme are optimised. The obsolescence manager is responsible for all issues and concerns associated with the delivery of solutions developed for the programme cluster of projects to include various legacy systems & services. This in turn communicates risk in a timely fashion such that time to react is maximised and risk / cost to the programme is significantly minimised.

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the core OM capabilities of the business; ensuring that overall business issues are identified and addressed at the earliest opportunity.
  • Review and maintain a proactive Obsolescence Management Plan (OMP) in accordance with IEC 62404:2007, ensuring that the service is fully captured, defined and documented.
  • Ensure the OMP and associated processes are compliant with all OM related standards, including but not limited to:
    • IEC62402:2007 - Obsolescence Management Application Guide
    • MOD Obsolescence Management Guide
  • Develop and implement the OMP and ensure that it complies with all contractual requirements and deliverables placed on the MSP as defined in the OMP.
  • The OMP will outline the processes and procedures required to demonstrate the activities and responsibilities to be applied to proactively manage the risk of obsolescence for the programme.
  • Provide technical leadership, assistance and direction on obsolescence business approach, technique, measurement, mitigation and resolution.
  • Proactively monitor and report and timely onward transmission of OM notifications, as received or identified by the Authority or received from the MSP, to minimise risk, impact and cost to the Programme by communicated End of Sale, End of Support and discontinuation notices issued by equipment Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Conduct risk assessment, prioritise & communicate obsolescence risks/mitigation to the Programme on receipt of OM notifications received from the MSP, which shall include all hardware and software.
  • Ensure obsolescence activities are fully integrated with other ILS activities, as identified by the ILSM, to offer timely and effective Obsolescence Notification decisions to optimise through life support costs once an obsolescence issue is identified.
  • Review obsolescence status reports (monthly) and update the Authorities ILSM prior to monthly Service Management Reviews and/or ILS Working Groups.
  • Chair all Obsolescence Management Board (OMB) review meetings with technical, design and security leads for all systems.
