IT Security Manager

Location: Corsham

Duration: 6 Months [initially]

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a IT Security Manager to join a large and established team, tasked with enabling a large scale programme of work, delivering secure access to information and communication services for users across various locations in the UK and overseas, providing a configurable network that has a single sign-on.

The IT Security Manager is required to assist in the implementation of effective IT security in accordance with local policy and so a strong background in information technology (ideally in the deployed military capability environment) and a clear understanding of the challenges of information security is key.

This contract is for an initial six months, with the option to extend for at least another six beyond that.

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Information Security is effectively managed in all service and Service Management activities in line with client policy.
  • Develop and operate an Information Security Management model and processes in line with ITIL guidelines, HMG and client Security Enterprise policy.
  • Ensure that any Service Design considers all elements of the service by taking a holistic approach to the design of a new service, including the legislated or required security levels.
  • Taking advice from the Security Assurance Coordinators (SACs), follow the specific security policies and frameworks that underpin the Information Security Management activities within the client. These include, but are not limited to, SPF, JSP 440, JSP 541, JSP 604 and the client IA Governance Framework.
  • Protect the interests of those relying on information, and the systems and communications that deliver the information, from harm resulting from failures of Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA). The term 'information' is used as a general term and includes digital assets, data stores, databases and metadata.
  • Consider prioritisation of Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability in the context of operations and operational processes. The primary guide to defining what must be protected and the level of protection sits with the client. To be effective, security must address entire business and operational processes from end to end and cover the physical and technical aspects.
  • Assess the impact of all changes on the Information Security Model.

ESSENTIALS SKILLS:

To be eligible for the post of an information security manager, an individual must have relevant experience in this field where they will be expected to have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities essential in identifying and fixing security risks. To build understanding and awareness of security issues throughout the organisation, they must have excellent communication and presentation skills. They also need good team working skills to develop security solutions in collaboration with other information technology professionals. Other skills required are:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must to be able to present their ideas concisely.
  • Ability to prioritise work and design schedules to meet the desired requirements
  • Ability to work in demanding timescales
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other team members as well as should be able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills are a must

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Completion of CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc., would prove to be an added advantage.
  • An ITIL awareness would be beneficial to the integration with client ways of workings
  • Experience of deployed Operational Service Management

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.
