USER RESEARCHER, MINISTRY OF DEFENCE, UP TO £400/DAY
Role / Reference: User Researcher / DOS8906
Client: Ministry of Defence
Assignment Location: London based, however there will be a requirement to travel nationally.
Rate: £400/day
Contract Length: 120 days

Working Arrangements: A typical working day is 9am - 5pm (however working outside of these hours may be required due to business/project need. The role is based in London but there may be travel involved to other regions of the country. Travel expenses outside the base locations will be covered.
Role Summary
Discovery and alpha into end to end digital services which allows users to submit a Subject Access Request, understand what information MOD holds, how it is being used, and request changes in that data and how it is used; a centralised register for authorised users to record an Information Asset.
Discovery and alpha into digital services which allows users to submit a Subject Access Request, understand what information MOD holds, how it is being used, and request changes in that data and how it is used; a centralised register for authorised users to record an Information Asset. The role is required to; identify and engage users (including assisted digital users); develop and exploit user stories, work closely with the project team to iterate and test prototypes with users and delivery organisations feeding into iterations through alpha product development cycles, ensure compliance with Digital Service Standard. Knowledge transfer to MOD Staff.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience of agile working alongside a developer and technical architect using centered design practices to ensure user stories and user research are at the heart of product design
- Proven ability to design services to meet valid user needs including planning, designing and conducting usability testing of prototypes
- Experience of mapping user journeys
- Excellent written and verbal communication including strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence external partners, suppliers and stakeholders
- Experience creating and delivering workshops
- Experience using analytics, research and insights to make improvements that meet user needs
- Experience delivering outputs in line with Government Digital Service Standard and assessment process
- Ability to Identify users and potential users of specific, niche services in the public domain (particularly those similar to military service records service) and securing their participation in user research
- Experience identifying assisted digital users and engaging them to ensure the service is designed to enable maximum digital take up
- Proven ability to update user needs and user stories throughout the cycles of iterative product development to feed into prototype development and influence product direction
