We have an amazing opportunity for a talented Senior Business Service Design Lead to join us. You will be responsible for leading the service design activities that will Design, Develop and socialise the Service Design packages that will allow the transition of services from an asset to service oriented way of working.
This role will lead the overall service design work packages, as well as help shape and build a team. You will work alongside Service Owners, Service Delivery Managers and Service Architects to create cohesive service design packages.
Principal accountabilities include:-
  • Leading the Service design work packages, maintaining a 5 year vision and roadmap for service success,
  • Ensuring services are scoped and designed in line with requirements, understanding business and commercial needs for operational success.
  • Lead the development, socialisation, and approval of individual service designs and their artefacts.
  • Negotiate requirements and working closely with operational customers and partners.
  • Have a set of Service design principals and a services for the operational business
  • Ensuring agreed targets and timescales are met, Recruit, Motivate, develop, mentor the team.
  • Work as an Integral member of the Technical Services Directorate, to Develop and maintain a common understanding of service management frameworks, to have agreed and workable set frameworks for service design.
  • Interface with stakeholders and operational departments.
  • Ensure Service Designs are deliverable and affordable, to ensure the service proposals are doable and within budget
  • Champion the Service Orientated Architecture and service design approach, Gain business understanding and buy in for the Service Design function
  • Provide advice, support and challenge to the business from a Service Design standpoint.


Background, Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience of leading service design activities within service management frameworks (including ITIL), with knowledge and passion for driving customer centric and service orientated outcomes.
  • Strong background in service management, with success in the design, implementation, improvement and automation of service management processes.
  • Excellent working knowledge of service management principles, frameworks and practices including ITIL V3, SIAM, ITSM tooling, with specific knowledge of service design & integration methodologies.
  • Proven experience with analysing and defining service requirements, SLAs/OLAs, and working with service level methodologies.
  • Highly developed organisational, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating and leading workshops and discussions with senior stakeholders, and cross functional teams
  • Well-developed communication influencing and negotiation skills, gained in a complex organisation experiencing significant transformation
  • Experience in leading Service Design teams
  • Experience with service design governance and proactively managing issues and risks throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills.
  • Professional qualifications and/or relevant tertiary qualifications combined with a minimum of foundation level certification in ITIL V3.
