The Police Federation of England & Wales (PFEW) is the UK’s largest staff association and represents the interests of all police constables, sergeants, inspectors and chief inspectors. It has been at the forefront of test case litigation concerning the employment rights of police officers, including many cases that have become central to modern discrimination law. Its financial support for legal services and assistance to members can run to several million pounds each year.

Key Accountabilities:

To deliver specific PFEW training courses at Federation House and within the 8 PFEW regions covering England and Wales at the Satellite Centres of Learning (SCoL). Core training courses to be delivered currently include:

  • Health and Safety (H&S)
  • Equality and Diversity (E&D)
  • Conduct and Performance (C&P)

Delivery of all courses must be within the framework of statutory police regulations in conjunction with the guidelines, policies and procedures stipulated by the PFEW L&D Department.

To deliver complex subject matter in an accurate, articulate and consistent style that will provide practical assistance to all Federation representatives in the performance of their roles in advising and representing members.

 To deliver training courses and associated materials, in liaison with the PFEW National Board L&D Lead, Head of L&D, and the L&D administration team.

 To adhere to L&D administration and review processes to assess the effectiveness and return on investment from Federation training activity.

 To undertake evidence based Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activity to ensure that knowledge and expertise as an Associate Consultant L&D professional is up to date and relevant.

 The PFEW is located in Surrey at Federation House, a couple of minutes from to Leatherhead railway station, and only 45 minutes from London Waterloo by direct train.  Federation House includes conference facilities for meetings and residential training courses.

The post reports to the Head of Learning and Development and requires professional affiliation with the CIPD or other relevant professional body, hold a recognised training qualification equivalent to the ITOL and hold a qualification in one of the PFEW core knowledge subject areas e.g NEBoSH, NGC or Diploma.
