An opportunity has arisen in Airbus Filton to join the Future Projects team to design and analyse the next generation of Landing Gears. This role is aimed at an experienced engineer who already has a track record of conceptual Landing Gear design and innovation

As part of the Wing and Landing Gear team within Future Projects, you would be joining an established team that is always on the cutting edge.

We support all types of projects from developments of existing products for new missions, all-new conceptual design, scouting for new R&T technologies with academia all the way through to analysing what our competitors are developing.

 

The team is split across three sites in the UK and Germany and we work transnationally every day. ????What you will be doing:

 

As part of this role, you would be working on multiple projects to define and analyse complete new gear configuration (including all dressings, wheels, doors etc.), to understand their impact on the overall design of the aircraft.

This covers a number of disciplines including geometry/kinematics, sizing, weight, operability and cost in order to deliver an optimised solution.

To achieve this you will need to work with the rest of the Future Projects team and several of the other engineering teams within the business so communication skills will be key

??? The ability to design a Landing Gear from first principles using Catia (including Kinematics)

???I???ve worked for Airbus UK for the last 17 years and it has been a great company to progress in as a female engineer.

I have enjoyed regular travel to our European sites and liaised with engineers from all around the world. More recently I even got chance to work as a volunteer for Airbus Charity in India building schools for under privileged children.

I???ve held various engineering positions throughout my time but have always been able to adapt the roles to support my career and life as a mother -

I have worked both part-time and flexibly around early school years regularly working from home to maintain that important work life balance and now I manage a small team of structural engineers building mathematical models of aircraft wings for all the airbus fleet!???
