An exciting opportunity has arisen for a System Design Authority within Airbus Cyber Security in Newport, South Wales.

Job Brief

Technical Supervision - Management of technical requirements; SPACE standards and

specification requirements.

Involvement in the development of the engineering department functions and procedures.

To be responsible for their own career development.

To be responsible for their own time management with regard to project task milestones.

Provide technical guidance in at least one major tool or technique used by Airbus Defence and SpaceIntroduction of improvements where necessary to design solutions and processes; Investigation of any design changes, and implementing them in a controlled manner.

Technical Enforcement - Ensuring that appropriate design methodologies and standards are selected and followed, that the design complies with applicable legislation (including safety), applicable national/international and local standards and good engineering practice, and that company processes are adhered to.

Technical Direction - Directing development of the technical design, instigating design reviews and approving key design decisions and design documents

The SDA has responsibility for the certification and authorisation of all aspects of requirements devolvement, design, design

proving, manufacture, integration and testing.

The SDA has responsibility for preparation, updating and custody of the system/architectural specifications, drawings and

other data associated with the design.

The SDA has responsibility for preparing appropriate certificate of design and its submission for acceptance.

The SDA has responsibility for design compliance with applicable product liability issues in liaison with designated company

authorities.

The SDA has responsibility for ensuring effective engineering processes are utilised in the execution of the project.

Using appropriate tools and techniques to design and develop equipment to AIRBUS DEFENCE & SPACE.

Able to use all disciplines required in designing the whole or part of a project as determined by project milestones and their team leader.

Be aware of technological/engineering developments and issues in industry and interact with the engineering management to continuously improve engineering.

Use experience to support the design and development of critical components where decisions may have a significant impact on project timescales.

 

Essential Experience

?? Must be capable of solving complex problems requiring expertise in numerous technical fields.

?? Must be capable of owning the technical understanding of an entire design in multiple technical disciplines.

?? Must be an experienced engineer, with a successful track record of leading complex software/hardware product development, integration and qualification

?? Must have experience of systems design and??implementation for data communications products in commercial or military environments.

?? Must have experience of embedded software development utilising bespoke hardware.

?? Must be familiar with process driven software/hardware development

?? Must have experience of the full project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

?? Must be highly self-motivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills

?? Must have an excellent understanding of work package definition, estimation and planning

?? Must have excellent team leadership skills, with evidence of skills in negotiation and conflict resolution

Desirable Skills

?? Experience of cryptographic product development

?? Experience of Requirements Management (e.g. using DOORS).

?? Experience with data/voice communications protocols (e.g. networking, network management, VOIP)

?? Experience in developing embedded software for network devices.

?? Experience of design for manufacture (software test, productionisation of the hardware design)

Must have existing UK SC security clearance, or be capable of attaining UK SC clearance

This role is based at Airbus Defence and Space offices, Newport, South Wales, with occasional requirements for business travel within the UK and abroad
