Reed Professional Services are currently engaged with Defra.   A Central Government organisation who have a significant number of major programmes in flight and being commissioned to aid the planning and withdrawal of Britain from the EU.  Due to the level of change required, Defra have requested for Reed Professional Services to provide assistance with raising the level of Project and Programme Management expertise within the organisation, working particularly on the EU exit programmes.

Role Profile

We are looking for Programme Managers advocating and demonstrate the value of good project discipline. In turn this will ensure the adoption and embedding of agreed project standards and tools within the Defra Policy workforce. RPS are providing a team of experienced programme management consultants to complete the individual engagements. They must be encouraging and facilitating problem-solving to overcome barriers to delivery. Whilst gathering and sharing intelligence (from projects and from the PMO perspective) to expose common/ shared challenges and drive portfolio-level solutions. They will be focused on enabling two- way engagement between the projects and the EU Exit Delivery Group; ensuring that delivery concerns are heard, challenged where appropriate and acted on.

 

Duration:  6 Months

Daily rate: £600-700 per day

Start date: ASAP

Location: Westminster

Required Skills and Competencies

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Programme Manager working for a large complex organization.
  • Experience of managing business transformation.
  • Demonstrable experience of carrying out initial assessment and reviewing the existing project artefacts.
  • Demonstrable experience of creating action plans and reporting.
  • Experience of the creating and maintaining substantive plans of activity.
  • Significant stakeholder management experience to a senior level.
  • Experience of implementation action plans to drive the project successfully.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving multiple projects forward to successful delivery.
  • Broad understanding of Project Management methodologies and tools.
  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience for a consultancy.
  • Experience of Central Government.
  • Security Clearance.
